2008 Bluegrass Balloon Festival and Balloon Glow

Balloon glows are fun, but mainly I was looking for something challenging to shoot. Trying to set up for shooting the lighted balloons in the dark of night is a challenge to say the least. Tinkering with ISO settings will yield pics that are totally underexposed to pics that look like there's still another hour or two till sunset. It's an interesting and challenging thing to shoot. Not to mention the fireworks. I can't wait to shoot next year's Thunder Over Louisville.

Natural Bridge State Park - June '08

I took a trip down to Natural Bridge State Park earlier this summer. I hadn't been there in probably 15-20 years. It was a beautiful day for hiking and the scenery is just as I remembered it... except that the bridge itself didn't seem as high as I remembered it. I guess that's a matter of perspective. Everything seems big when you're a little kid. I'll be making another trip in the next couple of weeks so that I can take some more pictures of the fall foliage.

Concours d'Elegance Part 1

On Sunday, Oct 5th, Louisville held it's inaugural Concours d'Elegance. For those of you not familiar with car competitions, a Concours d'Elegance (or "competition of elegance") brings together some of the best examples of automotive history. There were immaculately restored and maintained cars and motorcycles dating from the late 1800s all the way through 2008. I ended up spending over 4 hours at the concours and shot over 450 pics. I'll be adding more concours posts as I continue going through and editing the pics.

Brooke and Burdie's Engagement Photos

Brooke and Burdie are two very good friends of mine that I've come to know through soccer. They had been engaged for a few months at this point, but wanted to send out some Save-The-Date postcards to wedding guests and asked if I would be kind enough to take the pictures. My fee was dinner. I'm still waiting to collect. HAHA!! Their wedding reception was at Glassworks in downtown Louisville, and they were accomodating enough to let us use the roof for this shoot. What a great night!! Excellent sunset, city lights in the background, and the couple was really fun to shoot! Anyway, the 1st pic is what they went with, but I thought I'd post some of my favorites from the shoot. Oh, and they asked me to be one of their groomsmen during the shoot. Good times!

Night Lights

These were taken one Saturday night outside my apartment. I was toying around with shooting at night with extended shutter speeds. They ranged from 2 seconds to around 20 seconds. Just toying around, but I came up with some interesting images.
